Hello, my name is Marie, owner of Blackberry Donkeys.

Blackberry donkeys are based in Hartlepool in the north east of England and began trading in May 2017. Our dream team currently consists of 4 standard donkeys, (Sox, Hobo, Bandit and Joseph), 1 miniature Mediterranean donkey called Teddy, plus our experienced, professional and friendly staff

You will be glad to know that we hold a current 5 Star licence for the highest possible donkey care and welfare standards. Our donkeys have access to modern stabling and a yard, as well as having their own permanent secure fields and paddocks on the farm where they live and our vast experience and professionalism, together with our well trained and calm donkeys, will undoubtedly ensure that you and your guests have an unforgettable experience.

Why having donkeys at your wedding is a great idea?

Donkeys are very sociable and simply love to meet people and your guests will love them back. How could you not love their wonderful expressions? They will make your guests hearts melt and bring everyone at your wedding together; they are always a wonderful talking point and great ice-breaker. Both you and your guests are welcome to hug, pat or simply photograph our loveable long-ears, creating priceless, long-lasting memories of your day. Our donkeys can also deliver small treats or gifts to your guests with their traditional pack saddle and panniers(baskets). If you have children 9 years and under attending your wedding, our standard sized donkeys can provide donkey rides to keep them entertained. As a qualified and experienced primary school teacher, with all staff DBS checked, you can be sure that they will be in safe hands. Our donkeys can also wear co-ordinating flowers, match your wedding theme, or wear traditional riding tack with bells. Remember, every wedding is bespoke and we will do our best to accommodate your need.

Of course, every wedding with our donkeys is bespoke but we have two packages to choose from, which are then adapted and tweaked to meet your requirements.

Donkey Delivery Service

This package gives you the option to have Teddy our Miniature Mediterranean Donkey, greet and mingle with your guests, in his beautifully handcrafted pack saddle and panniers(baskets), whilst distributing small welcoming gifts, petals, teats or favours. You can provide your own gifts or favours or let us organise them for you and it goes without saying, that donkey hugs, cuddles and photographs are welcomed.

This package offers up to 1hour 30minutes hire, plus arrival 40 minutes prior and starts from £250 (The Northern Creators price: £212.50) plus travel charged at 50p per mile.

Lovely Long-ears Package

This package provides you with two of our stunningly beautiful standard sized donkeys. Our long-eared friends can greet your guests, providing unforgettable memories and give rides to the children at your venue, if required. It’s completely up to you! As with our Donkey Delivery Package, donkey hugs, cuddles and photographs are welcomed, if not essential.

This package offers up to 2 hours hire, plus arrival 40minutes prior and starts from £395 (The Northern Creators price: £335) plus travel charged at £1 per mile.
